Pashtun poet and writer Shafiqa Khpalwak says poetry and literature can play a key role in bringing about social peace.
A few days ago, Shafiqa Khpalwak recited a poem titled “Don’t go to war” in the palace which was liked by many people on social media.
In an interview with Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty (RFE / RL), Shafiqa said that art and literature confront the people involved in the war with their own selves and emotions and make the judgment as to why human blood is shed.
Safiullah Stanekzai has interviewed Ms. Khpalwak.
He first asked her to recite the poem “Don’t go to war” and then to express her feelings.
