Power generation of Tarbella Dam reduced to 165 MW

TARBELLA: Fourteen power generation plants of Tarbella dam Wednesday closed owing to decreased water inflow in the lake which also reduced the water level in the reservoir.

According to Tarbella Dam officials, 14 power generation units of the dam has been shut down due to low water level, adding that only 165 megawatts of electricity has been produced from 3 units of the dam.

The water storage capacity of the dam reduced to 58 feet and the water level of the dam recorded on Wednesday was 1482 feet. The shortage of water in Tarbella Lake reservoir badly affected both power generation and agriculture sector, the officials noted.Today 20,300 cusec feet water inflow was recorded while outflow remained 20,300 cusecs which were discharged in Ghazi Barotha stream.
