MARDAN: For the first time, the police on Thursday signed an agreement with Concept Schools System to provide free education to children of the police martyrs and to give 50% remission on expenses to the children of serving police personnel.

The agreement was signed by District Police Officer Sajjad Khan and school principal Amad Akbar.  Besides area elders and students, DSP Sheikh Maltoon Muhammad Tayyeb Jan and teachers including Amad Akbar, Syed Sultan, Ihsan Bacha, Sohail Ahmed Babar, and Irshad Ahmed also attended the event.

Speaking on the occasion, DPO Sajjad Khan said that the facility of free education for martyrs’ children and 50% fee remission for children of the serving policemen would encourage the police personnel. He said that like other forces, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have rendered innumerable sacrifices and it is now a joint responsibility of society to serve the heirs of the martyrs.

“We have set up a Police Hospital, a vocational training centre and other facilities for the families of the police martyrs because it is our responsibility to fulfil their needs,” said the district police chief.

25 held in operation: Meanwhile, the police have arrested 25 suspects, including three proclaimed offenders and six facilitators in various crimes, and also seized huge quantity of weapons and drugs during operations under the national action plan (NAP).

Briefing the media, DPO Sajjad Khan said that during the operations, the police also checked 35 buildings and registered cases against unregistered tenants staying and against some people for poor security arrangements.

He added that police also checked data of 165 vehicles including vehicles and motorbikes during the search operation and registered case against 15 people under sections 107 and 151 while 10 people were arrested under 55 and 109 sections.

The DPO added that police also seized one Kalashnikov rifle, 3 guns, 3 pistols and 130 cartridges of different bore. Also, 3,500kg hashish were recovered.
