Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Abid Wazir and District Police Officer (DPO) Dr. Zahidullah said. DeputyCommissioner (DC) Muhammad Abid Khan Wazir along with District Police Officer (DPO) Dr. Zahidullah formally inaugurated the installation of
security rooms in Mardan city under Safe City project in Police Line Mardan on Tuesday.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Finance Naik Mohammad, XCN Highways Abdul Wadood and XEN Building Imran Khan and other police officers were present on the occasion.
Giving a detailed briefing on the Safe City project, the Executive Engineer Highways
said that 16 main squares including Gujjar Garhi, Muqam chowk, Katlang chowk, Malakand chowk, Dwasaro chowk, Mira Khan Tupo chowk, Pakistan chowk, Kassi Chowk, Toru chowk, Ghari Kapura chowk, Nehar chowk, Kachari chowk, Bilal Masjid chowk, Sheikh Maltoon chowk and Nowshera-Mardan overbridged has been selected for safe city project.
He added that this safe city project will cover the main entrance routes to the city including Mardan-Nowshera road, Mardan-Swabi road
and Mardan-Malakand road. He added that 21 kilometers optical fiber cable will be laid in the safe city project.
Talking to the media deputy commissioner added that the completion of safe city project
would not only enable monitoring of the entire city but would also prove to be a milestone in further improving the law and order
situation in Mardan city.
Abid Wazir added that the safe city project
has been named as a pilot project as it has been started with the help of district government and administration and district police and after its success the district administration will further expand it
to other parts.
He said that under the safe city project security cameras would be installed in 16 main squares of Mardan city.
“As responsible citizen, we have to protect it,” he added.
Talking to the media DPO Zahidullah Khan told the media that this project will more
improve the overall law and order situation and keep a check on street crimes and treating public at checking points. DPO added that the CCTV cameras would also improve the public dealing of police at checkpoints and other places as they would be under constant watch.
He added that it will also more improve the traffic system in the City. Zahidullah
Khan added that this project will help in detection the crimes.
He continued that control room of the project was set up at police line and police department will own this project.
