Ehsanullah Ehsan – whose real name is Liaquat Ali – posted an audio message on social media on August 10, telling the story of surrendering to the Pakistani army and fleeing. He asserted that his confession had been obtained through torture

“One of the requests was to tell me to lead a death squad, which would include former surrendered members of the TTP or members of pro-Pakistan jihadist groups,” he told me. We will set up secret offices in Peshawar, Mardan and Quetta. You have started working against traitors and enemies of the country. ”

Ehsanullah Ehsan says the army had agreed under an agreement that no case would be filed against him and that old cases would be dropped, he would not be held in jail or torture chambers, he would receive financial assistance and travel bans. It doesn’t matter, but he says he doesn’t agree with one thing:”Most of the people I was given a list of [murders] were from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and all were Pashtuns, including people from all walks of life and some journalists,” he said.

Regarding Ehsanullah Ehsan’s latest audio talk, VOA Diva sent the audio clip via WhatsApp to Pakistan Army’s intelligence agency ISPR for comment, to which they replied:”All the allegations and claims of Ehsanullah Ehsan are completely baseless and we strongly reject them.”

The families of the slain Army Public School children have protested in recent months and petitioned the Peshawar High Court on how Ehsanullah Ehsan escaped, in response to which the public prosecutor told the court he would be recaptured soon but the army refused to allow him to flee. No information has been released to the media so far.
