MARDAN: Female teachers of the Basic Education Community Schools (BECS) staged a protest rally outside Mardan Press Club in support of their demands on Wednesday.
Female teachers from remote areas of the Mardan District and the school children participated in the rally.
Talking to the media Nagina Bibi, Nadia Bibi , Zatoon Bibi and other female teachers said that there are more than 250 basic education community schools in the district.
“During this expensive period they are teaching children form last 25 years on only Rs 8,000 salary”, they argued.
The female teachers said that however from the last one year their salaries has been closed.
They added that despite of this they went to school and teaching the students.
They continued that in 2018 the High Court directed the government to regularize the Basic Education Community Schools teacher but the government did not obey the order of High court so far.
They demanded the government to immediately release their salaries, regularized their service and also provide free books and school materials to their school children, like other government schools and also include non-development funds in their budget.
They warn that if government did not fulfil their demands they will be compel to stage sit-in at Islamabad. Later on the protesters dispersed peacefully.
