More than 15 senior police officers, including the Karachi police chief and IG Sindh, have decided to go on holiday in protest over the trial of PML-N leader and Maryam Nawaz’s husband Capt. (Retd) Safdar and pressure on police officials to arrest him.
The officers on leave include IG Sindh, Additional IG Sindh, Additional IG Karachi, Additional IG Special Branch and several DIGs. Additional IG Special Branch Imran Yaqub Minhas in his leave application has taken a stand that the police officers were disrespected in the FIR incident against Captain (R) Safdar and all the police for misbehaving with the officers in the FIR case. The officers were shocked.
Additional IG Police Imran Yaqub has written that it is difficult to perform professional duties in this environment of pressure, I need 60 days leave to get out of this pressure. According to sources, senior officers were pressured to register an FIR against Captain Safdar. Encouraged by this pressure, the officers have decided to go on holiday in protest.
The PML-N leader was arrested from his hotel room yesterday. The Sindh government informed the PML-N leadership about the arrest of Captain Safdar and said that IG Sindh was abducted by Rangers at 4 am and they were forced to arrest Captain Safdar.
When PML-N leader Muhammad Zubair reached the police station, the Sindh government told him that the IG Sindh was abducted at 4 am and taken to the Sector Commander’s office where the Additional IG was also present and forced him to issue an arrest warrant for Captain Safdar. Arrest warrants were issued under intense pressure.
Senior journalist Hamid Mir said government officials tried to disprove his tweet yesterday. When he told that IG Sindh was abducted by Rangers and was pressured to arrest Captain Safdar. However, Muhammad Zubair was not their source. But he proved to be true.
Yesterday some powerful people including some Govt ministers tried to prove me wrong I tweeted long before audio message of Muhammad Zubair was spread on social media he was not my source I proved right but I m not happy I fear more horrible details may create more complications https://t.co/Kw00a6zBs1
