12 million cheque handed over to AKF

PESHAWAR: Al-Khidmat Foundation (AKF) District President Arbab Abdul Haseeb and General Secretary Iftikhar Ahmed handed over a cheque of Rs12 million for Orphan Family Support to Khalid Waqas, Provincial President of AKF
The Regional Manager of AKF KP Qazi Wajahat Mahmood and Senior Orphan Family Support Organizer Asim Hameed were also present on the occasion.
It may be recalled that the Orphan Sponsorship Program is currently providing services across the country and is presently sponsoring 13,875 orphans across the country and more than 4,000 orphans in KP.
Meanwhile, the disaster team of AKF KP recovered the bodies of two cousins of a religious seminary who have drowned in Batkhela canal.
According to details, Manzoor and Hassan, residents of Chitral district, were taking bath in Batkhela Khel canal when they drowned due to high flow of water.
As soon as the AKF disaster team was informed, it rushed to the spot and launched a water search operation.
The disaster team and AKF volunteers diverted the direction of water course and recovered the bodies within the premises of Batkhela and transported them DHQ Hospital Batkhela and later to their native village Chitral through Al-Khidmat ambulance service.
It is pertinent to mention that that the deceased children were students of a local religious school in Batkhela but were staying with their uncle at a local mosque in Batkhela due to holidays.
It may be recalled that bathing in the canals of Malakand is prohibited under section 144. However, people are still visiting the canals without any fear or danger, due to which such unfortunate incidents are taking place on a daily basis.
